In an interview with the BBC, whisky expert David Robertson, who’s among the few who has tasted the whisky, described its flavour as “.full of dried fruits, of prunes and dates and tons of incredible spicy notes of cloves, ginger and cinnamon… zesty orange marmalade, hints of peat and smoke, finished with a delicious drying oak tannin from the sherry cask, and waxy, linseed oil and leather notes.” There are a number of other Macallan collections with hefty price tags: the Macallan Michael Dillon 1926 ( $1.53 million Rs12,64,92,597), the Macallan Valerio Adami 1926 ( $1.1 million Rs9,09,42,390), the Macallan Peter Blake 1926 ( $1.04 million Rs8,59,86,576), the Macallan Lalique Legacy Collection ( $993,000 Rs8,21,07,098.70), the Macallan Red Collection ( $975,756 Rs82,10,06,44.20), and the Macallan M ( $628,205 Rs5,19,39,612.48). ![]() Pop artists Peter Blake and Valerio Adami designed the labels for a limited edition of 24 bottles, and one bottle was even hand painted by Irish artist Michael Dillon. Only 40 bottles have been produced from this cask, and previous spirits matured in it have been auctioned for $1.2 million (Rs9,85,23,960). The vintage drink was drawn from a barrel that’s considered something of a legend, known as cask number 263. In October 2019, the 1926 Fine and Rare scotch became the most expensive wine or spirit ever sold at an auction-it went for $1.9 million (Rs15,59,96,270).
